Triples are the new binaries !

Triple (and higher multiplicity) stellar systems once thought to be exotic and rare are now understood to play a key role in a wide variety of physical processes, ranging from the formation of hot Jupiters and compact binaries; the production of transient phenomena such as supernovae, gravitational-wave sources and stellar mergers and generation of exotic stellar systems. Our group explores the coupled stellar and dynamical evolution of triple systems and their outcomes in all scales, from Solar-systems asteroids through planetary systems and triple stars up to massive black holes.

Triple common envelope

One of the most important but little explored aspects of triple stellar evolution is triple common envelope evolution. We are currently explore this using hydrodynamical simulations. Check out some of our movies below.
