Thermonuclear supernova explosions

ERC project

ERC logo edited.jpg

We are modelling thermonuclear suprenova explosions, starting from modelling the stellar evolution of the progenitors, the formation of white dwarfs (WDs), and their interactions;  and then following the detailed explosion models using thermonuclear-hydrodynamical models, followed by nucleosyntheitic post-processing and radiative transfer models as to produce detailed observational predictions (spectra and photometry). Our main focus is on novel progenitor models for the disruptions of hybrid He-CO white dwarfs by carbon oxygen or other hybrid He-CO WDs.

SNeX conferences

The first SNEX - supernovae observations and theory was held in the Technion
